Google awarded TruFund $1 million from their very own, Grow with Google Small Business Fund loan program. In addition to the million, TruFund received $150,000 grant through Google’s Opportunity Finance Network.

TruFund has been known to help historically disadvantaged individuals and businesses to close racial and economic disparities. And on Monday morning, TruFund and Google just took a major step forward to help support minority and women owned businesses.

With operations in all areas of Louisiana, one city in particular took the cake when TruFund awarded hundreds of minority and women owned businesses over $32 million in small business loans in the city of Baton Rouge. Helping them financially and providing technical support, small businesses were able to establish a profitable and sustainable business.

“This partnership with Google will help us serve a greater number of small businesses who are desperately seeking capital to sustain their operations and continue serving their communities.”

Cision PR Newswire was able to speak to Kim Carter Evans, TruFund’s Vice President, Director of Corporate Communications and Managing Director on the topic of COVID-19 affecting minority owned businesses. She stated that the pandemic caused economic uncertainty and has highlighted mostly on minority and women owned businesses. With the need of capital, they were uncertain how they were going to sustain their businesses. “This partnership with Google will help us serve a greater number of small businesses who are desperately seeking capital to sustain their operations and continue serving their communities.”
